With the wind blowing heavily in 1 side we always knew it was going to be a game of 2 halves.
The Castlemilk boys had the wind the first half and took advantage of it by lumping high balls right over the top and onto our defence.
the game started quietly with Beechwood having most of the ball and playing some neat stuff.
The referee (who didn't have the best of games) called offside on a few occasions when the beechwood boys were through 1 on 1 with the keeper.
The game kicked into life when the away team scored from a corner kick after a bit of a scramble in the box which kindly fell to the forward who blasted it home from 5 yards.
With us 1 down and against the wind we tried to keep the ball on the ground at all times and were rewarded with some fine play in he middle of the park.
Wee Andy threaded a neat ball through to Peter who found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper and calmly placed it beyond the keeper with 5 mins to go before half time.
1 each at half time and we knew we were going to take control of the game due to the away team playing the high ball most of the time and we knew they wouldn't be able to do that against the wind. We started the 2nd half as we finished the first on a high and were shocked to go 2-1 down.
With a long ball over the top and our defence backing off, Kev brought the forward down at the edge of the box.
The freekick took a deflection which floated by wee Hosie and we were 1 down against the run of play.
With the confusion over the substitution of wee Darren, we were forced to through Peter back to sweeper and bring on Spence out on the wing.
Peter marshalled lee & turnbull at the back & with wee Andy dropping back into the middle for Jamie we again looked more comfortable.
We knew it was only a matter of time before we equalised and it was through Mclure who was a bit quieter than he has been lately who got us back into it with a nice finish from inside the box.
Wee Colin who ran all day deserved his goal to take us into the lead when he slotted past the keeper when he was put through on a 1 to 1.
Straight after kick off, the forward passed it back to the midfielder who was busy arguing with the right mid & the centre half was busy talking to the right back, ive never seen anything like this before in my life, so the ball was passed back to no1 and all credit to wee Jamie who chased the ball down from centre then all of a sudden found himself in a 1 to 1 with the keeper and scored.
The game was coming to an end when some fine play by mclure who squared it across for wee Jamie for a tap in and the wee mans 2nd.
All in all it was a good game which we deserved to win in the end.
The Ref who made a terrible blunder & nearly cost us a player (by refusing to let us put a player on who he said wasn't on the team sheet then coming in afterwards to apologise as he was) & the Wind threatened to ruin the game. we got what we deserved by getting the 3 points and all credit to the Castlemilk boys who battled to the end.
