bafc were in trouble even before the kick off when ceiron reynolds went down injured in the warm-up so managaement team of coshell/bescoby were frantically changing the squad and in came basher burton to the helm.
the game started well for bafc after only just 1min the ball was in the heckington net only to be flagged offside dubiously by the heckington linesman, this was not all after 3 mins heckington had there gaol dissallowed after ref saw an infringement in the build up,what a start, this was going to be a thriller.and on only the 4th min after bafc losing ball in midfield from the resulting free kick bafc were 1-0 down.
basher burton lived up to his name when he upended the heckington no9 to give away a penalty after 20mins 2-0 down.
bafc had another goal dissallowed on the 31min when bully reacted to the keeper pushing onto the crossbar and him following in,again another dubiuos offside decision.
half time came and went and with mom will scott coming out in the second half like a man possessed dominating the midfield in the air.
but misery again when on 61m a throw in was given back to the thrower to cross to back post for heckington 3rd 3-0 down.
bafc had a brilliant 10m spell when they were awarded a corner, bully crossed to back post for enderwick to rise like a salmon to head home 3-1
enderwick got his brace when barney slotted a lovely midfield splitting through ball to enderwick to run onto and slip past the keeper 3-2 bafc were back in it in the 70m, bafc were looking better and looking the likely to equaliser.
or so they thought when heckington netted there 4th only 3m later from a brilliant team move 4-2 after catching bafc on their backheels.
and on the 85m the game was out of reach again bafc lacked concentration and let the heckington striker through with only the keeper to beat 5-2.
manager coshells comments after the game
"i am proud of the lads for a brilliant comeback we looked back in the game until we just had a 5m lack of concentration and let them back in,without some bad decissions i feel this would have been closer but sometimes u just have to play against the refs in local football but to be fair the ref did not only make bad decisions for us it was the same for heckington.
we could have done with a victory here as next week we entertain top of the league white horse and the lads really need to step up against them as they sit proud on top spot with no defeats in 9 games and only 5 goals against them. i think they must be worried as we heard that they sent some people down to watch us only trouble is we changed our home venue at baston playing fields to play at thurlby as baston had a home game,so there journey was wasted.
the trouble with us at the moment is that we lose our way in the game sometimes and seem to fall to sleep and let in the opposition,we need to improve drastically or we will get thumped against a very good white horse team".
BAFC WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPOTUNITY TO THANK ROBERT POCHIN (OAKHAM) FOR THERE KIND SPONSORSHIP OF THE MATCH BALL.
