HULL BOYS SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
UNDER SIXTEEN DRYPOOL
SUNDAY 11th DECEMBER 2011
SPRINGHEAD FC 1 BARHAM BOYS 3
BARHAM BATTLE OUT FOR A WELL EARNED THREE POINTS.
On a wet, overcast, rainy Sunday morning Barham set out to take on Springhead with just 11 players available to play. However with a good strong squad, any eleven are more than capable of a result. The pitch was flat, but quite slippery.
The game started well for Barham, they played some neat football, good periods of passing, decent movement and plenty for the home keeper to do. For the first part of the game Springhead could only counter attack as Barham carved out chance after change.
Barhams efforts were rewarded just two minutes before the break when Ivor Robson stuck the bar from just outside the area, Jack Morrill was on hand to gamble and ensure the ball hit the back of the net.
After the break Barham struggled for the first ten minutes. Fresh legs would have been useful, but there were none, so dig deep they did and kept the home team at bay. Still playing some neat football, Owen Millar won the ball in midfield, an excellent ball through to Ivor Robson who then put Jack Morrill through for a tidy finish to put Barham 2-0.
The heavy pitch was really taking it out of the valiant Barham 11, and Springhead with their changes were able to get themselves into the game. With 15 minutes remaining the tired legs of Barham started to struggle to get the ball away, and Springhead got their chance to pull one back with a smart lob over Lewis Parkinsons head.
This game the home side a lift and they worked hard to look for a leveller, but it was Barham who had the final say with a 30yard free kick which left the home keeper desperately trying to reach, but with little chance of keeping out such a fine effort from Ivor Robson.
Barham had a further change to make it more convincing, but Jack Morrill just couldn’t quite find his feet.
Final Score 3-1 to Barham.
