Well what can I say , a game we could have won , should have a lost and in the end get a point. Today we seen the good the bad and ugly side of Ballyoulster Utd, But Mr C Eastwood was only watching and not involved ?.
We took a lead when under great pressure , fantastic finish by Bonyo. Knocklyon tip off and we stand back and admire the way these guys in Green and white run with the ball. We allowed them to get into our box and score to make it 1-1. After some heavy pressure and no football by the home team , Ballyoulster go 2-1 up , Dylan Haughney finishing calmly from a Bonyo pass. We now are starting to beleive we can play, suddenly we get a corner , Ojo whips in a misplaced corner and Arron McEvoy gets a touch to send the ball pass the knocklyon keeper - 3-1 to Ballyoulster. What a first 30 mins game this is. We then dominate for about 10 mins and could have easily increased our lead. But we paid the price for sloppy marking and not putting a tackle in. Knocklyon hit back with two goals before half time. So half time comes and the score is tied at 3-3. its anyones game or more to the point , whoever wants its more.
We tip off and once again show we can play with some goood passing and moving, but then the ugly side starts again and we give away the ball , stand off and don't make challeneges.
With 70mins on the clock , Paul Gardiner makes a run and is chopped down just outside the box. Ojo steps up and hits a sweet free kick with ripples the back of the Knocklyon net , 4-3 to Ballyoulster. That was the good part. So far we have had the good , the ugly - now for the bad.
Once again we sit back and allow the opposition to run at us, great to watch , for the neutrals , but not for the management team or supporters of Ballyoulster Utd. When we take a lead , we need to defend as if its the Alamo , alll heads to the pumps etc. But no , some of us like to stand and watch - Lads you are not having out of body experiences , you are involved. We should have gone Magnum force to defend for our lives.
We allow them to score , Then in the last minute the ref awards Knocklyon a penalty , But our keeper showed he had reflexs like a tarantula and make a very impressive save and follow up.
We play as though we are walkins a tightrope at times and its any which way but loose. When we start a game , we should have a sudden impact - straight away. We need to be unforgiven in our tackles. Players need to be enforcers on and off the ball. Ballyoulster need to show we are not rookies and we can stand in the line of fire. Lads we need to lose the tag or stigmata of the billion dollar babies , We need our blood to work and show that it was a true crime that we did not given the opposition the bird today. It should have been a dirty harry performance and not the bridges of madison county
So I lay down the gaunlet, and raise the flags of our fathers and hereafter we are not to breezy on the pitch and make this a perfect world and season. Points to those who can name all the films used
