Glorious sunshine, an immaculate pitch and high spirits welcomed Alltwen to godrgraig on Saturday. Having met pre season and suffering a defeat Alltwen were keen to settle the score and with a quick team talk from manager Des Lloyd we were under way.
From the off Alltwen applied the pressure, pushing forward and slotting the ball into some great space where forward Ryan Lloyd, who did everything right, was just shy of a converting.
However, the deadlock was soon broken when a dashing run on goal was cut short in the box resulting in a penalty. Ryan Lloyd, who had scored a pen in the opening game of the season, stepped and scored again from the spot with what can only be described as "text book"
From then on in the home side looked frustrated, and with confidence now running high Altwen slipped into second gear.
Bursting play from Jason Disbrey, Callum Daniels and Tom Blake fed in Claudio only to be rebounded into the path of Sam Stokes who struck with conviction 2-0.
Quick water break and a chat from Captain Sam Coombs saw Altwen shift gear again and the third came just before the brake, with Ryan Lloyd neatly slotting the ball into the back of the net from some outstanding play from Jason Disbray.
Half time talk from manager Des Lloyd was short and sweet and with no changes, it was back out and at the home side again.
Some outstanding passing and great touches Altwen were all over them. Tom Blake was by now blossoming and the 17 year old seemed to be everywhere and along with Callum Daniels with his hunger and lust for the ball, broke Godrgraig down even further.
The forth followed with a stunning pass from Mr Blake fed Jason Disbray and even with heavy marking still slotted home with an air of acrobatics to make it 4-0.
Substitution came with coombs gracefully coming off to make way for Sean Brown who slotted in neatly into the back 3.
At this point the home team seemed broken and frustrated and were arguing amongst them selfs.
With another change ordered, Sam stokes made way for the fresh legs of massimo gallo who made an instant impact hammering home Altwens 5th with a superb assit from Claudio.
Final change of the day came with Dave Pidgeon, who had commanded the wing with ease exiting and saw a first team debut for David Moore.
With the relentless pressure, neat quick passing and cool heads saw the 6th goal fly in. With a clinical pass from Ryan Lloyd sweetly feeding into Callum he made no mistake. One on one with the keeper he struck with his right peg to produce a finish rarely seen on match of the day.
With time fast approaching Altwen started to wind down. In possession of a goal kick Robert draper, who up till this point due to great defending had had very little to do, made a school boy error. Punting the ball straight to the home side who luckily slotted a late consolation prize.
A great, successful away afternoon of football for Altwen FC and with applause from home fans as Altwen walked off the pitch, was the cherry on the cake.
Final score Altwen 6 Godrgraig 1
Man of the match was a well deserved Tom Blake.
Minge of the match was the man in the sticks Robert Dappa Draper.
