Lewis scores hat-trick in epic win for 99Problems.
Following a brilliant win the previous week, 99 Problems face an even harder challenge in the form of Team 10. With virtually a full squad to choose from 99 Problems had much depth and experience to fall back on. Only Jay due to work commitments couldn't make the match.
The match began brilliantly for 99Problems, and they wasted no time in stamping their mark on the match by making their opposition chase the ball down early on. 99Problems swiftly, effortlessly and decisively moving the ball around, and very much from the onset looked to penetrate Team 10s defence.
What was notable in this match was the level of organisation from 99Problems. Everyone was talking to each other, and making sure players were in the right position at the right time. This certainly wasn't a one off, and with 5 games gone this season so far and with only 2 goals conceded, Carvell's men should be proud of how they've stepped up this season.
99Problems had properly dominated the first half of the match but yet to find the opening goal. The first real chances were all denied by the left post, Lewis first to befriend it, then Jack had sloppy seconds slamming the ball twice off it. Frustratingly it was characteristic of 99 Problems not converting their chances.
Defensively 99 Problems were sound, super sub Tommo making some really nice interceptions when called upon. However it was the energies of Rich, Craig and Carvell that made the game tick for 99Problems. Tracking back then going again isn't easy, but all 3 showed a masterclass in doing just that.
The game was on a plate for 99 Problems, but still needed to be vigelent as Team 10 was always a threat going forward. Skell largely redundant maintained 99 Problems kept a clean sheet going with some routine saves and decent ball distribution.
The goals eventually came for 99Problems, and all 4 were most definitely deserved.
Lewis having his usual solid match, opened the scoring for 99Problems. It was no surprise that is was a fast counter attack that created the chance. Jack having a brilliant game should have scored but smashed the shot off the post which Lewis brilliantly reacted first to and dispatched. Counter attacking football seems to be a perfect fit for Lewis and Jack and it was man of the moment Lewis quickly added a second, Andy winning the ball in midfield and playing a pass to Lewis who took the ball around the keeper to score.
99 Problems playing so well with their movement and passing nearly found another route to goal during the match. Carvell's corners created 2 decent opportunities to score, but weren't to be on this occasion.
However the 3rd soon arrived and it was Craig aka the engine converting Jack's pass for a deserved 3rd for 99Problems. Craig's understated performance in today's match had many admirers and justly deserved a goal for his efforts.
The 4th goal and without doubt the best came ironically came from a long ball. Skell's distribution was first class all night and his long throw to the feet of Lewis in the dying moments created the chance. Lewis now faced with a one on one with the keeper had the audacity to scoop the ball over the oncoming keeper. A truly wonderful goal that capped off a genuinely brilliant performance from Lewis and 99Problems.
99Problems see out the match, and by winning propells them up the table. Well done to everyone.
Man of the match. Lewis and Craig.
