Following 2 defeats 3M FC attempted to bounce back v Winkfield Res. The morning was fresh but the pitch looked in good nick if a little hard underneath but seemed ideal for 3M FC to play the beautiful game to their full potential. 3M were out of the blocks fast playing some great flowing football, moving the ball about nicely with lots of communication. This was possibly the most fluid 3M had been all season thus far. Following Carter pulling out on the morning of the game with a nagging knee injury Dunnet came in at left back for his first competitive start of the season. Watson was also making his first start of the season at right back. 3M used both full backs to full effect, moving the ball across the pitch and bringing both Dunnet and Watson into the game at every opportunity. With 3M having the 3 man midfield of Beynon, Earl and Tyler the extra man was used to maximum effect with the ball being moved simply and quickly between the 3. Dixon and Fletcher provided plenty of width and caused their full backs plenty of problems with their pace and movement. Bailey was holding the ball up nicely and bringing others in to play at every given opportunity. Following a patient opening 20 minutes Dunnet played a great ball to Tyler in midfield who broke forward beating his opponent before Bailey took control and dinked a nice lob over the keeper to make it 1-0. Within 5 minutes 3M doubled their lead thanks to a goal mouth scramble after Dunnet's free kick was not held by the Winkfield Res keeper, Dixon following up attempted to score from the fumble only to see the ball hit the keeper, Stark then had a go at putting the ball away only for the keeper to get in the way again. The ball dropped to Bailey who lashed it into the roof of the net. 3M continued to press forward playing some pleasing on the eye football with Bailey going close to netting a hat-trick only to see his sliding effort go wide. With 3M sitting comfortable at the break with a 2 goal lead it was obvious that the first 10 minutes would define the remainder of the game. Sure enough Winkfield came out fighting and Atkins was forced into making a brave save at the Winkfield forwards feet. The fluidness of 3M FC game had gone from the first half with less precise passing and calmness on the ball. After 15 minutes 3M began to settle back into their grove and the chances started to become more frequent. Eventually the 3rd goal came following some good strength in midfield by Beynon he fed the ball to Tyler, Tyler slid the ball through as Beynon continued his run to calmly slot the ball past the keeper. With Bailey going off after what can only be described as a very nasty challenge to the top of the foot Beynon moved up front with Edmonds coming on in midfield. Following some great play wide from both Dixon and Tyler, Beynon twice had opportunities to extend the lead, one going narrowly wide and the other hitting the post. Dunnet hit the bar from a wide angle and Fletcher also hit the bar with an outrageous attempt at a header from the edge of the box with the keeper stranded. The 4th goal came following a Tyler corner as a Winkfield defender attempted to head the ball clear it dropped to Beynon, as it sat up nicely he thundered in a left footed shot. The 5th soon followed following some good work down the right flank by Dixon and Tyler with the latter capping a great performance with a cut back for Fletcher to tuck the ball away in the bottom corner. With a lot of great performance's the mom went to Dunnet who showed some great calmness and composure on the ball, great communication and some quality passing.
