Introduction
The Sunday Central AFL (FCSAFL) is an amateur football league based in Glasgow, Scotland. It was founded in 1978 as the Glasgow Sunday AFL and renamed the Sunday Central AFL at the beginning of season 2010/11.
The FCSAFL currently has 20 teams competing in three divisions: the Premiership, the Championship, and the Lanarkshire Premier Division. The season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other once in a round-robin format.
History
The Sunday Central AFL was founded in 1978 by a group of amateur footballers who wanted to create a league that would allow them to play football on Sundays. The league initially had just 10 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has 20 teams.
The FCSAFL has been home to some of the best amateur footballers in Scotland, including former Rangers and Scotland international player Charlie Miller. The league has also produced a number of other professional footballers, including Gary Teale, Lee McCulloch, and Kris Boyd.
Current Season
The current season of the FCSAFL began in September 2022 and is scheduled to end in May 2023. The Premiership is currently being led by Overlee Colts, while the Championship is being led by Bellshill United. The Lanarkshire Premier Division is being led by Murieston United.
The FCSAFL playoffs will be held in May 2023 to determine the champions of each division. The winners of the Premiership and Championship will be promoted to the next higher division, while the bottom two teams in each division will be relegated to the next lower division.
