Russell Foster Youth League (RFYL)
The Russell Foster Youth League (RFYL) is an amateur football league for boys and girls aged 7-18 in the North East of England.
The league was founded in 1972 and currently has over 100 clubs affiliated to it. The clubs are divided into age groups and divisions, and each season, the teams play each other in a round-robin format.
History

The RFYL was founded in 1972 by Russell Foster, a local businessman and football enthusiast. The league was originally called the Durham and Northumberland Youth League, but it was renamed the Russell Foster Youth League in 1980.
The RFYL has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 clubs affiliated to it. The league is divided into age groups and divisions, and each season, the teams play each other in a round-robin format.
Structure

The RFYL is divided into the following age groups:
- Under-7s
- Under-8s
- Under-9s
- Under-10s
- Under-11s
- Under-12s
- Under-13s
- Under-14s
- Under-15s
- Under-16s
- Under-17s
- Under-18s
The teams are divided into divisions within each age group. The number of divisions and the number of teams in each division varies depending on the age group.

The RFYL runs a number of competitions throughout the season, including:

- The Challenge Cup
- The Floodlit Cup
- The Fair Play Trophy
- The Under-18s League
- The Under-18s Challenge Cup
The winners of each competition are awarded a trophy.
