Introduction
The Milton Keynes and Border Counties Youth Football Saturday & Sunday League (MKBCYFL) is an amateur football league for youth players in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. It was founded in 1972 and currently has over 100 clubs affiliated to it.
The league operates two divisions, a Saturday division and a Sunday division, for players aged 7 to 18. There are also a number of cup competitions held throughout the season.
The MKBCYFL is affiliated to the Football Association (FA) and follows its rules and regulations. The league is also affiliated to the Milton Keynes Council and receives funding from them.
History
The MKBCYFL was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just a few clubs but has grown steadily over the years.
In the early years, the league was based in Bletchley but it moved to its current headquarters in Wolverton in 1990.
The MKBCYFL has a long and proud history of developing young footballers. Many players who have gone on to play professional football have played in the league, including Michael Owen, David James, and Ashley Cole.
Current Season
The current season of the MKBCYFL started in September 2022 and is scheduled to end in May 2023. There are currently 103 clubs affiliated to the league, with over 2,000 players registered.
The Saturday division is currently being led by AFC Oakley, while the Sunday division is being led by MK Wanderers. The cup competitions are also well underway, with the MKBCYFL Cup and the MKBCYFL Trophy both being contested.
