Hanoi International Football League
The Hanoi International Football League (HIFL) is an amateur football league for expats living in Hanoi, Vietnam. The league was founded in 2012 and currently has over 100 teams competing in 5 divisions.
History
The HIFL was founded in 2012 by a group of expats who wanted to create a more organized and competitive football league for expats living in Hanoi. The league started with just 6 teams in the first season, but it has grown steadily over the years.
The HIFL is now one of the most popular amateur football leagues in Hanoi, with over 100 teams competing in 5 divisions. The league is divided into the following divisions:
- Premier Division
- Division 1
- Division 2
- Division 3
- Division 4
The HIFL season runs from September to May, with each team playing 18 games in the regular season. The top 4 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, which are held in May.
Rules
The HIFL follows the rules of the FIFA Laws of the Game. However, there are a few exceptions to the rules, which are designed to make the league more accessible to players of all levels. For example, there is no offside rule in the HIFL.
Venues
The HIFL games are played at a variety of venues in Hanoi, including the Hanoi Football Academy, the Hanoi National Stadium, and the Military Sports Club.
Cost
The cost of participating in the HIFL varies depending on the division. The cost for the Premier Division is VND 10,000,000 (~$420 USD), while the cost for Division 4 is VND 5,000,000 (~$210 USD).
