Introduction
The Brighton & Hove District League (BHDL) is an amateur football league in England, involving teams in and around Brighton, Hove and Worthing. The league was established in 1903 and currently has 10 divisions, ranging from the Premier Division to Division 10.
The BHDL is affiliated to the Sussex County Football Association and is a member of the National League System at Levels 12-14. The league champions are promoted to the Sussex County League, while the bottom two teams in each division are relegated.
The BHDL is a popular league with over 100 clubs participating each season. The league prides itself on providing competitive football for all levels of ability, and is a great place for players to develop their skills and experience.
History
The BHDL was founded in 1903 as the Brighton & Hove Combination League. The league initially had four divisions, but this was expanded to ten divisions by 1967.
In 2014, the BHDL merged with the Worthing & District League to form the Brighton, Worthing & District League. The new league currently has 10 divisions, with teams from both Brighton and Hove, as well as Worthing.
Current season
The current season of the BHDL is the 2022-23 season. The Premier Division is currently being led by AFC Broadwater, while the Division 10 title is being contested by Hangleton and Ovingdean.
The BHDL also has a number of cup competitions, including the Bill Hawkins Trophy, the Sussex Junior Cup and the Sussex Intermediate Cup.
