History
Yowies Football Club was founded in 1969 by a group of local soccer enthusiasts. The club's name is derived from the yowie, a mythical creature said to inhabit the forests of Australia.
Yowies initially competed in the Shoalhaven District Soccer Association. The club won the Shoalhaven District Soccer Association championship in 1971 and 1972.
In 1978, Yowies joined the Illawarra Premier League. The club has since won the Illawarra Premier League championship on four occasions, most recently in 2017.
Stadium
Yowies Football Club plays its home games at the Nowra Showgrounds. The Showgrounds is a multi-purpose stadium that also hosts rugby league, rugby union, and cricket matches.
