United Rangers Football Club is a football club based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The club was formed in 1970 as a merger of four clubs: Shamrock, Rangers, Christchurch Technical, and Christchurch City.
United Rangers have won the New Zealand National Soccer League six times, most recently in 1991. They have also won the Chatham Cup six times, most recently in 2019.
The club's home ground is Linfield Park in Christchurch.
History
United Rangers were one of the founding clubs of the New Zealand National Soccer League in 1970. They won the league in their first season, and again in 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, and 1991.
They have also won the Chatham Cup six times, in 1971, 1973, 1977, 1982, 1991, and 2019.
The club has produced a number of New Zealand international players, including Steve Sumner, Grant Turner, Bobby Almond, Steve Woodin, and Frank van Hattum.
Recent seasons
United Rangers have not won the New Zealand National Soccer League since 1991. They finished third in the league in 2019, and fourth in 2020.
They have also not won the Chatham Cup since 2019. They lost to Auckland City in the final in 2020.
