TUT Football Club was founded in 2004 by the Tshwane University of Technology. The club's first team competed in the South African Third Division in the 2004-05 season. The club won promotion to the South African Second Division in the 2008-09 season.
The club's most successful season was in the 2014-15 season, when they finished third in the South African Second Division. The club also reached the final of the Nedbank Cup in the 2014-15 season, but they lost to Kaizer Chiefs.
