History
Thornton Redbacks Football Club was founded in 1974 by a group of local residents who wanted to create a football club in the Thornton area. The club initially competed in local competitions before joining the Northern NSW Football Northern League in 1982.
The club has enjoyed some success in recent years, winning the Northern League One championship in 2018 and 2020. The club has also competed in the FFA Cup on several occasions, most recently in 2022.
