SWQ Thunder is a semi-professional soccer club based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. The club was founded in 2012 and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Queensland (NPL QLD) women's competition.
History
SWQ Thunder was formed in 2012 as a merger between the South West Queensland Junior Premier League representative program and the Toowoomba Thunder Football Club. The club's first season in the NPL QLD was in 2013, and they finished in fifth place.
The Thunder have consistently improved since then, and they finished third in the 2019 season. In 2020, they reached the NPL QLD grand final, but they lost to Brisbane Roar.
Current Season
SWQ Thunder are currently in their ninth season in the NPL QLD. They are currently in third place on the table, and they are looking to challenge for the title this season.
The Thunder have a number of talented players in their squad, including Australian internationals Emily Gielnik and Hayley Raso. They also have a number of young players who are coming through the ranks.
