Puerto - Western Springs Football Club (WSAFC) is an association football club in Westmere, Auckland, New Zealand. It is one of New Zealand's largest clubs, with over 2,600 members. The club's senior men's team currently plays in the Northern League, the top division of football in Auckland.
The club was founded in 1947 and has a long and successful history. It has won numerous trophies, including the Northern League championship 20 times. The club has also produced a number of New Zealand internationals, including Ryan Thomas, Michael McGlinchey, and Annalie Longo.
Recent History
The club has had a mixed recent history. The senior men's team won the Northern League championship in 2019, but finished bottom of the table in 2020. The senior women's team won the Northern League championship in 2021.
The club has also been involved in a number of controversies in recent years. In 2022, the club's board of directors was accused of sexism and discrimination against female players. The club subsequently signed a new charter with Northern Region Football to improve gender equity.
