Parklands United is a football (soccer) team based in Parklands, Christchurch, New Zealand. The club was founded in 1967 as North Beach Soccer Club and changed its name to Parklands United in 1996.
The club currently plays in the Canterbury Championship League, the second tier of football in Christchurch. The men's team has won the Canterbury Championship League once, in 2018.
The club also has a women's team, which plays in the Canterbury Women's Championship.
History
Parklands United was founded in 1967 as North Beach Soccer Club. The club was initially formed with the goal of playing social Sunday soccer against hotels and business houses in and around Christchurch.
The club quickly grew in popularity and by the mid-1990s, it had become one of the largest clubs in Christchurch. In 1996, the club changed its name to Parklands United.
The club's men's team has had a mixed history. The team has won the Canterbury Championship League once, in 2018. However, the team has also spent several seasons in the third tier of football in Christchurch.
The club's women's team has been more successful. The team has won the Canterbury Women's Championship five times, most recently in 2022.
