Mountmellick United Football Club is a soccer club based in Mountmellick, County Laois, Ireland. The club was founded in 1967 and currently competes in the Midlands Soccer League and the Carlow and District League.
History
Mountmellick United FC was founded in 1967 by a group of local soccer enthusiasts. The club's first team competed in the Laois and District League, and the club quickly established itself as a force in the local soccer scene.
In 1975, Mountmellick United FC won the Laois and District League title for the first time. The club went on to win the title again in 1977, 1978, and 1980.
In 1982, Mountmellick United FC joined the newly-formed Midlands Soccer League. The club has been a regular competitor in the MSL ever since, and has won the title on four occasions (1992, 1999, 2001, and 2019).
Current Season
Mountmellick United FC are currently competing in the Midlands Soccer League Premier Division. The club is currently in 7th place in the table.
The club's first team is managed by John O'Connor. The team's captain is Eoin Rigney.
