Jackies Army was founded in 1912 by soldiers from the 1st Australian Imperial Force who were stationed in Perth. The team was originally called the "Perth Gunners" but was renamed Jackies Army in 1917.
The team played in the Western Australian State League from its inception until 1978, when it folded. The team was revived in 1996 and has since won the league championship 12 times.
