History
CD Penjamo was founded in 2015 by a group of Mexican immigrants who wanted to create a soccer team that would represent the Mexican community in Chicago. The team's name is a reference to the city of Penjamo, Guanajuato, Mexico, which is the hometown of many of the team's players.
CD Penjamo began competing in the NPSL in 2016 and has since made the playoffs in each of its first four seasons. The team's best finish came in 2019, when it reached the NPSL National Semifinals.
