XL Team was founded in 2010 by a group of friends who wanted to play football together. They started out playing in the Gateshead and District Sunday league's lowest division, but they have since worked their way up to the top division.

Achievements
XL Team have won the Gateshead and District Sunday league's top division twice, in 2015 and 2019. They have also reached the final of the league cup on two occasions, but they have never won it.
