Whitby United Football Club is an English football club based in Whitby, North Yorkshire. The club participates in the Northern Premier League, the seventh tier of English football.
History
Whitby United was formed in 1926 by the amalgamation of two local clubs, Whitby Association Football Club and Whitby East End. The club's first season was in the North Eastern League, which they won in 1928. They then moved up to the Northern League, where they have played ever since.
Whitby United's most successful period came in the 1960s and 1970s. They reached the quarter-finals of the FA Amateur Cup in 1964 and the final in 1965, losing to Hendon. They also won the Northern League Cup six times and the North Riding Senior Cup five times.
In recent years, Whitby United have struggled to compete at the top of the Northern League. They were relegated to Division One in 2013, but were promoted back to the Premier Division in 2017.
Stadium
Whitby United's home ground is the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground. The stadium has a capacity of 3,000 and was opened in 1929.
