Vikings FC is a football (soccer) team based in Kampala, Uganda. The team was founded in 1968 and currently competes in the Ugandan Premier League.
Vikings FC has won the Ugandan Premier League once, in 1998. The team has also won the Uganda Cup twice, in 1997 and 2000.
History
Vikings FC was founded in 1968 by a group of friends who were passionate about football. The team quickly rose through the ranks of the Ugandan football pyramid and won promotion to the Ugandan Premier League in 1973.
Vikings FC enjoyed their most successful period in the 1990s. The team won the Ugandan Premier League in 1998 and the Uganda Cup in both 1997 and 2000.
Vikings FC has struggled in recent years and has not won any major trophies since 2000. However, the team is still a popular and well-supported club in Kampala.
Stadium
Vikings FC plays its home games at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala. The stadium has a capacity of 45,000 spectators.
The Mandela National Stadium is also the home of the Uganda national football team.
