Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor Kulübü is a Turkish professional sports club located in the city of Trabzon. Formed in 1967 through a merger of several local clubs, the men's football team has won seven Süper Lig championships. Trabzonspor also have a women's football team, and used to have a men's basketball team.
History
Trabzonspor were founded on June 2, 1967, through the merger of three local clubs: Idmangücü, Karadenizgücü, and Martispor. The club's colors are blue and white, and their home stadium is the Senol Günes Stadium.
Trabzonspor won their first Süper Lig title in the 1975-76 season, and have gone on to win six more championships since then. They are also the most successful club in the Turkish Cup, having won nine titles.
Trabzonspor have also been successful in European competition. They reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in 1983-84, and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2011-12.
Recent seasons
Trabzonspor finished second in the Süper Lig in the 2021-22 season, their best finish since 2010-11. They are currently in first place in the 2022-23 season, and are on track to win their first league title in 11 years.
