Thorpe United Ladies Football Club was founded in 2008 by a group of women who wanted to play football at a competitive level. The club started out in the lowest division of the Norfolk Women & Girls' Football League and have since progressed through the divisions to reach the Women's Division 1.
The club has a strong history of developing young players. Several players who have come through the Thorpe United Ladies youth system have gone on to play for higher-level clubs, including Norwich City Ladies and Ipswich Town Ladies.
