The team was founded in 1970 by a group of friends who met at Thornesian Comprehensive School. They originally played in the Wakefield and District Sunday League, but moved to the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield in 1990.
Recent Season
Thornesians finished the 2022-23 season in 6th place in the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield. They reached the semi-finals of the league cup, but were beaten by eventual winners, Methley Old Boys.

Yorkshire Old Boys Shield
The Yorkshire Old Boys Shield is a regional amateur football league for teams in Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1921 and is currently in its 102nd season.
The league consists of 16 teams, divided into two divisions. The top division is known as the Premier Division, while the bottom division is known as the Division One.
The season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other twice. The top two teams in the Premier Division at the end of the season are promoted to the Northern Counties East Football League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division One.
The winners of the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield are eligible to compete in the FA Vase, a national knockout competition for amateur football teams.
