The club was founded in 1979 by a group of parents who wanted to provide their children with the opportunity to play football. The club originally consisted of just one team, but it has since grown to include teams at all age levels, from Under-7s to Under-18s.
The club has a strong history of success, having won numerous trophies at both local and county level. In recent years, the club has also produced a number of players who have gone on to play professional football, including Martin Smith, who played for Sunderland AFC.
