Stoke Sporting were formed in 2009 by founder Andy Wild as Stoke Works FC.
The goal of the club was to provide a team for a group of friends to play together in Bromsgrove League Division 3. The original squad in 2009 was made largely by ex Stoke Prior FC players who were joined before the new season by a handful of ex Sugarbrook players. Under Andy Wild's leadership the club won the league in there first season 2009/10 and captain Adam Malpas was named Division 3 player of the year. After the 1st season Andy Wild decided to step aside and let someone else have the commitment of running the club David Fisher was installed. In the 2010/2011 season David Fisher struck a deal to become sponsored by the Black Cross and the club became Black Cross Athletico, the club spent there season in division 2 holding there own and avoiding relegation. In the 2011/2012 season the league was restructured with a premier league being introduced so Black Cross Athletico were in Division 1 Of the Bromsgrove League. The seasons highlight was reaching the clubs 1st cup final in the Bridgwater cup at Bromsgrove Sporting's Victoria Ground, Black Cross went down 5-0 to a strong Alvechurch Lions however it was a great experience and the club grew through reaching the final. In 2013-2014 the club was renamed Stoke Sporting after the Black Cross shut down and the sponsorship with the pub ended. The club was based at the boat and railway in Stoke Prior. Stoke Sporting ended up in a mid table position in the league. 2014/2015 Stoke Sporting struck a deal to be based at Stoke Prior Sports & Country Club where they originally played in there 1st season before moving to droitwich in 2010. Also David Fisher announced in July 2014 that there will be a new team created under the Stoke Sporting brand. Stoke Sporting FC Reserves will start in Division 3 of the Bromsgrove League and will be managed by Adam Malpas and Tom Nicholson. Club colours have been varied starting in Black & White hoops and Red, then onto Orange then Blue, the club will start the current season in Green & White. The club now are looking to build and become an established team within the Stoke Prior community.

- In the 2010/11 season, the club was sponsored by the Black Cross and renamed Black Cross Athletico. They finished the season in mid-table in Division 2.

The league is divided into three divisions: Premier Division, Division 1, and Division 2. The top two teams in the Premier Division are promoted to the Midland Football Combination, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division 1.
The league is affiliated to the Worcestershire County Football Association.
