South Normanton Athletic is a football club based in South Normanton, Nottinghamshire, England. They are currently members of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, the ninth tier of English football.
The club was founded in 1907 and initially played in local leagues. They joined the Central Midlands League in 1972 and won the league championship in 1983. They then moved up to the Northern Counties East League, where they have remained ever since.
The club's home ground is the Malt Kiln Lane Ground. The ground has a capacity of 1,000 spectators.
History
South Normanton Athletic was founded in 1907. The club's first recorded match was on 12 January 1908, a 1-0 defeat to Sutton Town.
The club played in local leagues until 1972, when they joined the Central Midlands League. They won the league championship in 1983, which earned them promotion to the Northern Counties East League.
South Normanton Athletic have remained in the Northern Counties East League ever since. They have won the league championship once, in 2001. They have also reached the FA Vase final twice, in 1999 and 2002.
The club's most famous player is probably Stuart Elliott. Elliott played for South Normanton Athletic from 1995 to 1999. He then went on to play for Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, and Blackpool.
