Remo Stars Football Club is a professional football club based in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. The club competes in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), the top division of the Nigeria Football League system. They are nicknamed the Sky Blue Stars.
History
Remo Stars was founded in 1970 by a group of young men from Remo, Ogun State. The club's first home ground was the Sagamu Township Stadium. In 1979, Remo Stars won their first major trophy, the Nigeria National League (NNL) title. The club subsequently won the NNL title again in 1980, 1988, 1995, and 2000.
In 1985, Remo Stars made their debut in the NPFL. The club finished in 10th place in their first season in the NPFL. Remo Stars have since gone on to play in the NPFL for most of the years since then.
In 2018, Remo Stars was relegated from the NPFL to the NNL. The club bounced back to the NPFL in 2021, finishing second in the NNL playoff Group A.
Recent Season
Remo Stars had a successful season in the NPFL in 2022. The club finished in 5th place, their highest finish in the NPFL since 1988. Remo Stars also reached the final of the Nigeria Cup, but lost to Akwa United.
