Proton FC is a Malaysian football club based in Shah Alam, Selangor. The club was founded in 2008 and is sponsored by Malaysian national carmaker Proton. Proton FC currently competes in the Selangor League, the third tier of Malaysian football.
History
Proton FC was founded in 2008 by the Proton Group. The club was initially formed to compete in the Malaysia Premier League, the second tier of Malaysian football. Proton FC made their debut in the Malaysia Premier League in the 2009 season. The club finished the season in 10th place.
In the 2010 season, Proton FC finished the season in 11th place. The club was relegated to the FAM League, the third tier of Malaysian football, at the end of the season.
Proton FC returned to the Malaysia Premier League in the 2012 season. The club finished the season in 8th place. Proton FC has remained in the Malaysia Premier League since then.
