Coritiba Foot Ball Club, commonly known as Coritiba and colloquially referred to as "Coxa", is a Brazilian football club from Curitiba, capital city of the Brazilian state of Paraná. Founded in 1909 by German immigrants, it is the oldest football club in the state.
The club has won the Brazilian Championship once, in 1985, and the Paraná State Championship 39 times. They have also won the Copa do Brasil once, in 1999.
Coritiba's home stadium is the Major Antônio Couto Pereira Stadium, which has a capacity of 40,000. The club's colors are green and white.
History
Coritiba was founded on 12 October 1909 by German immigrants. The club's first president was Luiz Guimarães.
Coritiba won its first Paraná State Championship in 1916. The club has since won the championship a total of 39 times, more than any other team in the state.
Coritiba won the Brazilian Championship for the first time in 1985. The club defeated Bangu in the final.
Coritiba also won the Copa do Brasil in 1999. The club defeated Botafogo in the final.
Recent history
Coritiba has not won a major title since 1999. The club has, however, been consistently competitive in recent years.
Coritiba finished third in the Brazilian Série A in 2011 and 2012. The club also reached the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil in 2012.
Coritiba is currently playing in the Brazilian Série B. The club is hoping to return to the Série A in 2023.
