Real Sociedad de Fútbol, commonly known as Real Sociedad or La Real, is a Spanish professional football club based in San Sebastián, in the Basque Country. The club currently plays in La Liga, the top tier of Spanish football.

Real Sociedad was founded on 17 September 1909 and is one of the founding members of La Liga. The club has won two La Liga titles, in 1980–81 and 1981–82, and the Copa del Rey three times, in 1909–10, 1986–87, and 2022–23.

History

Real Sociedad was founded in 1909 by a group of English and Basque students. The club's first president was José María de Urrutia.
