Mortimer FC was founded in 1920. They have played in a variety of leagues over the years, including the Hellenic League, the South Midlands League, and the Spartan South Midlands League.
The club's most successful period was in the 1970s, when they won the Hellenic League Division 1 twice (in 1973 and 1975) and the Hellenic League Cup once (in 1974).
Mortimer FC have also produced a number of players who have gone on to play professional football, including Paul Bodin, who played for Aston Villa and Wales, and Mark Yates, who played for Reading and Millwall.
