Morecambe Football Academy is a youth development academy based in Manchester Central. It was founded in 2008 and is affiliated with Morecambe Football Club. The academy provides training and education for young footballers aged 8-16.
History
Morecambe Football Academy was founded in 2008 by former Morecambe player, David Lowe. The academy was initially based at the Morecambe Leisure Centre, but it moved to its current home at the Lancaster and Morecambe College in 2012.
The academy has produced a number of talented players, including Josh Harrop, who went on to play for Manchester United and England.
Structure
Morecambe Football Academy is divided into three age groups: Under-8s, Under-11s, and Under-16s. Each age group has a team that competes in the North West Youth Alliance League.
The academy also has a number of development squads that provide training for players who are not yet old enough to play in the league.
Education
Morecambe Football Academy is committed to providing its players with a high-quality education. All players attend the Lancaster and Morecambe College, where they study for a BTEC Level 2 in Sport.
The academy also has a number of partnerships with local schools, which allows players to continue their education while they are training.
