Mathare North Academy is a football academy based in Mathare, Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded in 1987 by James Mwangi, and has since produced some of Kenya's most talented footballers, including Victor Wanyama, McDonald Mariga, and Dennis Oliech.
The academy offers training to boys and girls aged 6-18 years old. The training is free of charge, and the academy provides all the necessary equipment.
History
Mathare North Academy was founded in 1987 by James Mwangi, a former professional footballer. Mwangi was inspired to start the academy after seeing the potential of young footballers in Mathare.
The academy quickly became a success, and soon produced some of Kenya's most talented footballers. In 2002, Mathare United, the academy's senior team, won the Kenyan Premier League.
The academy has continued to produce talented footballers, and many of its graduates have gone on to play professional football in Kenya, Europe, and the United States.
How to Join
To join Mathare North Academy, you must be aged 6-18 years old. You must also be able to pay a registration fee of KES. 1,500.
The registration fee covers the cost of training, equipment, and uniforms. The academy also offers a scholarship program for talented footballers who cannot afford the registration fee.
To apply for the scholarship program, you must submit an application form and a copy of your birth certificate.
