Maitu Football Club is a professional football club based in Malaz, a city in the north of the country. The club was founded in 1970 and currently plays in the Malaz Premier League, the top flight of football in Malaz.
The club's home ground is the Maitu Stadium, which has a capacity of 15,000. The club's colors are red and white.
History
Maitu Football Club was founded in 1970 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The club quickly rose through the ranks of the Malaz football pyramid and in 1980 they were promoted to the Malaz Premier League for the first time.
The club has never won the Malaz Premier League title, but they have finished as runners-up on three occasions. They have also won the Malaz Cup twice, in 1990 and 2000.
Recent seasons
Maitu Football Club have struggled in recent seasons, finishing in mid-table in the Malaz Premier League. However, they are hoping to improve in the coming seasons and challenge for silverware.
The club's current manager is Ahmed Al-Jabri. Al-Jabri is a former player of the club and he took over as manager in 2021.
