History
Liverpool was founded in 1892 by John Houlding, who took over the assets of the previous tenant of Anfield, Everton. The club's first game was a 2-0 win against Rotherham Town on September 1, 1892.

Liverpool went through a period of decline in the 1990s and 2000s, but they returned to prominence in the 2010s, winning the Premier League in 2020 and the UEFA Champions League in 2019.
