Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (LDA), also known as Los Leones (The Lions), is a Costa Rican professional football club based in Alajuela. It is the most successful club in Costa Rican football, having won the Primera División title 31 times, as well as the CONCACAF Champions League three times.
History
LDA was founded on June 18, 1919, by a group of teenagers who met at the Liceo de Costa Rica. The club's first president was Alberto Echandi Jiménez.
LDA won its first Primera División title in 1928. The club has since gone on to win the title 31 times, more than any other club in Costa Rica. LDA has also won the CONCACAF Champions League three times, in 1986, 2004, and 2005.
