Introduction
The LDS football team from Quito, Ecuador, is called the Quito LDS Soccer Club. It is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1964 by a group of Latter-day Saints who wanted to provide a way for young people in the community to play soccer.
The club is based in the Quito suburb of El Inca and currently has over 100 members. It offers teams for players of all ages, from 5 years old up to adults.
The Quito LDS Soccer Club is a member of the Ecuadorian Football Federation and competes in the Liga Amateur de Quito, the third division of Ecuadorian football.
History
The Quito LDS Soccer Club was founded in 1964 by a group of Latter-day Saints who wanted to provide a way for young people in the community to play soccer. The club's first president was Elder William J. Fulmer, a missionary from the United States.
The club quickly grew in popularity and soon had teams for players of all ages. In 1970, the club joined the Liga Amateur de Quito, the third division of Ecuadorian football.
The Quito LDS Soccer Club has had a successful history, winning several championships at the local and national levels. In 1999, the club won the Copa Coca-Cola, a national youth tournament.
Current Team
The current Quito LDS Soccer Club team is made up of players from 5 to 18 years old. The team is coached by a group of volunteers who are all passionate about soccer.
The team practices twice a week and competes in the Liga Amateur de Quito on Saturdays. The team is currently in first place in its division.
Future Plans
The Quito LDS Soccer Club is planning to expand its operations in the future. The club hopes to open a new training facility and start a women's team.
The club also hopes to start a youth development program to help train the next generation of soccer players in Quito.
