Koninklijke Haarlemsche Football Club (Royal Haarlem Football Club), commonly known as HFC, is a Dutch football club based in Haarlem. It is the oldest existing club in Dutch football, founded by Pim Mulier in 1879.
History
- HFC was founded in 1879 by a group of students from the Haarlem Gymnasium. The club's first president was Frans Peltenburg.
- During the club's early years, the team only played rugby but due to financial problems they then switched to association football.
- The first official football match in the Netherlands was played in 1886 between HFC and Amsterdam Sport.
- HFC won the Dutch national championship three times, in 1898, 1902, and 1912.
- The club also won the Dutch Cup twice, in 1902 and 1912.
Current season
HFC currently plays in the Tweede Divisie, the third tier of Dutch football. The club finished in 13th place in the 2022-23 season.
