Kangiwa United FC was founded in 2010 by a group of young people in Kangiwa, Kebbi State. The club quickly rose through the ranks of the Nigerian football pyramid, and in 2016, they were promoted to the Nigeria National League.
Kangiwa United FC has had a successful first season in the Nigeria National League. The club currently sits in third place in the league table, and they are considered to be one of the favorites to win promotion to the Nigeria Premier League at the end of the season.
