The club was founded in 1969 and originally played in the Hyde & District League. They joined the Tameside Football League in 1972 and have been playing there ever since.
The club's most successful period came in the early 1990s, when they won the Tameside League Cup three times in a row. They also reached the final of the Manchester FA Vase in 1992.
The club has struggled in recent years and have been relegated from the Tameside League Premier Division twice in the past five seasons.
