More about the team
Hill Top FC currently ply their trade in Division Four of the Rotherham & District Sunday League.
The club originally formed as Travellers Kimberworth in 2008 and entered Division 8 of the Rotherham & District Sunday League for the start of the 2008-09 season.
The team took time to gel and were unable to win a game in their first full season together, finishing rock bottom of the division, accumulating just 2 points all season. Things took a turn for the better in the second season though, still playing under Travellers Kimberworth, the team finished 7th out of 11 with a total of 22 points, a vast improvement on the season before.
The start of the 2010-11 brought a new look to the team, as they left the Travellers and were renamed Manor Barn FC and also got moved from Division 8 to Division 7. The 2010-11 season would prove to be the team’s best season as they finished 4th in the league on 36 points, winning 11 games out of 20 on their way to promotion.
The 2011-12 season saw the teams most successful to date as they were pushed up 2 divisions into Division 5. Wholesale changes to the playing squad meant that in essence it was a new look team starting this season. The team finished 2nd in the league behind eventual winners Thrybergh Top Club. Dragon were victims of their own downfall as they could have gone the full season unbeaten had they not had a dip in form after the Christmas break. Dragon lost only 4 games all season and rattled in an impressive 80 goals in 20 games, the highest in the league.
The 2013-14 saw the team promoted into Division 3 after a restructuring of the league, this season would turn out to be one to forget as the team we're relegated for the first time in their history. It was also the end of the road for long-serving manager Brian Hinchliffe as he handed over the reigns after 6 years in charge. The team move into the 2014-15 season under new management and looking to bounce straight back up the league.
