Hay St Marys FC Hay St Marys Veterans is a veterans football team based in Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire. They play in the Herefordshire Mind Veterans Football League Group B.
The team was formed in 2022 by a group of friends who wanted to continue playing football after they retired from playing at a competitive level. They are all over the age of 35 and are committed to playing football for fun and fitness.
The team has had a successful first season in the Herefordshire Mind Veterans Football League, winning the league title and the cup. They have also reached the semi-finals of the FA Veterans Cup.
The team is managed by Paul Jones and coached by Andy Price. The players are all volunteers and the team is run on a non-profit basis.
Herefordshire Mind Veterans Football League
The Herefordshire Mind Veterans Football League is a veterans football league for men and women over the age of 35. It was founded in 2018 by Herefordshire Mind, a mental health charity.
The league has four divisions: Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D. There are currently 20 teams in the league, including Hay St Marys FC Hay St Marys Veterans.
The league plays its matches on Sunday mornings during the winter months. The season runs from September to April.
The league is a great way for veterans to stay active and socialise. It is also a great way to raise awareness of mental health issues.
