Global Indian Football Club is a grassroots football team based in London, England. The team was founded in 2019 by a group of Indian expatriates who wanted to create a space for Indian footballers to play and compete in the UK.
The team currently plays in the Greater London Sunday Football League, and has won the league championship twice in its history. The team also competes in various cup competitions, including the FA Vase and the London FA Sunday Cup.
History
Global Indian Football Club was founded in 2019 by a group of Indian expatriates who wanted to create a space for Indian footballers to play and compete in the UK. The team's first season was in the 2019-20 season, and they finished in 5th place in their division.
In the 2020-21 season, the team won the league championship for the first time. They also reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase, where they lost to eventual winners, AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
In the 2021-22 season, the team won the league championship for the second time. They also reached the quarterfinals of the London FA Sunday Cup, where they lost to eventual winners, FC Romania.
