Glasgow Rangers Football Club is a professional football club based in Glasgow, Scotland. The club competes in the Scottish Premiership, the top tier of Scottish football. Rangers are the most successful club in Scottish football, having won a record 55 league titles, 34 Scottish Cups, 27 Scottish League Cups, 27 Scottish League Cups, 14 Scottish Challenge Cups, and 2 European Cups Winners' Cups.
The club was founded in 1872 and has been playing at Ibrox Stadium since 1899. Rangers have a long-standing rivalry with Celtic, known as the Old Firm. The two clubs have met over 400 times in competitive matches, with Rangers winning more often.
Rangers have a large fan base, both in Scotland and internationally. The club's supporters are known as the Gers.
History
- Rangers were founded in 1872 by a group of boys who met at the Royal High School in Glasgow. The club's first match was against Callander F.C. on 2 March 1872, which Rangers won 2-0.
- Rangers won their first Scottish League title in 1890-91. They have since won the league a record 55 times, most recently in 2021-22.
- Rangers won their first Scottish Cup in 1893. They have since won the cup 34 times, most recently in 2022.
- Rangers won their first European trophy, the European Cup Winners' Cup, in 1972. They won the cup again in 1973.
- Rangers were forced to enter administration in 2012 due to financial problems. The club was later liquidated and reformed as a new entity.
- Rangers returned to the Scottish Premiership in 2016. They have since won the league twice, in 2020-21 and 2021-22.

Rangers' home stadium is Ibrox Stadium. The stadium is located in the Ibrox district of Glasgow and has a capacity of 50,817.
Ibrox Stadium was built in 1899 and is the third-largest stadium in Scotland. The stadium has been renovated several times, most recently in 1999.
