Friday Stars Football Club is a non-league football team based in Cowes, Isle of Wight. The club was founded in 1972 and currently plays in the Wessex League Division One.
History
Friday Stars were founded in 1972 by a group of friends who wanted to play football together. The club started out in the Cowes and East Cowes League, and quickly rose through the ranks. In 1980, they were promoted to the Wessex League Division Two.
Friday Stars spent the next few years consolidating their position in Division Two, before being promoted to Division One in 1990. They have remained in Division One ever since, and have been regular challengers for promotion to the Premier Division.
Recent Season
Friday Stars had a successful 2022-23 season, finishing in third place in Division One. They reached the semi-finals of the Wessex League Cup, but were beaten by eventual winners Hamworthy United.
The club's top scorer for the season was Jake Smith, with 20 goals. He was also named the club's Player of the Year.
Future Plans
Friday Stars are looking to build on their recent success and challenge for promotion to the Premier Division in the next few seasons. The club has a strong youth team, and are hoping to develop some of their own players into the first team.
The club is also looking to improve their facilities at their home ground, Cowes Sports Club. They are hoping to install a new floodlighting system and a new pitch.
